CAN I USE THIS INSTEAD OF MS ISA SERVER?
Good day all. We are looking to impliment internet access/usage monitoring controls. We have been looking at MS ISA but I was told this product would do the same. We want to make users re-authenticate when they open a web browser and have mon 5A8 itoring capabilities as well as reporting utilities for end user internet access and usage.
Will Squid do all this?
Thanks, Michael
Simple Question?
Hi there, I am new to the Unix world, I really like it. I am using webmin and there is a feature for Squid.
What exactly does Squid do? I also am looking to replace my ISA server.
Thanks, Aaron
New chapter up
Hi Aaron, Michael
I've discovered that a chapter was missing - have a look at Terminology and Technologies for a detailed description of what squid is, what it does, and related terminology.

HTTP prefetching feature
Hi Would you please let me know if squid has any HTTP prefetching feature or if it doesnot have, is there any patch for squid that can add this ability to that? HTTP prefetching means that it sends all the objects which is in a web page at one time and after gathering all of the objects send them all to the user who requested it.
I need this feature. So if your response is negative. Would you please help me how could I do that? TNX
LOCATION OF squid.conf
At least on the installation I just did on freeBSD 7, the Squid 3.0.11 port installed squid.conf in /usr/local/etc/squid and not /usr/local/squid/etc as documented here. I don't know if this is a typo or if there is some variation out in the world, so I don't want to make an edit.
